Two Months Later

I’ve decided to skip the goals post today in honor of a special occasion.

My strange journey into the world of being a blogger started two months ago. At that time I had no idea what I’d put on my blog and wondered if anyone would even look at it. I don’t know what I expected, but I wanted to try it out and see what all the fuss was about. I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy it or hate it and quit without looking back.

The good news (good for me, maybe not so much for those subjected to my jumbling messes of words I refer to as stories) is I am enjoying myself, even if I’m still trying to find my place in the blogosphere. To my surprise I even have some followers and way more page views than I ever expected I’d get only two months in. Honestly, I wasn’t even sure I’d have that many page views after a year of being a blogger. My numbers are probably dwarfed by most of yours, but they’ve exceeded my expectations- by a lot, and I like to think that says something about my writing. Though, it probably says more about you guys than it does about my writing. You bloggers are a very supportive community and are always willing to help a fellow blogger. I appreciate that.

So thank you all for making this little journey of mine an enjoyable and fun experience. I feel close to some of you even though I’ve never even met you. You are like my brothers and sisters. Blogging goes beyond age, religion, and race. None of the matters here (as it shouldn’t matter anywhere else, but does for some stupid reason). We share a bond and I’m thankful for that. Thank you all for wasting spending your time reading the words the little heathens in my head force through my fingertips.

I’ve also come up with a lot of new story ideas by participating in the Friday Fictioneers, too many maybe. Nearly every week I find myself wanting to continue the story, but that list of “want to continue”s is getting awfully long. I need to get my ass in gear and start churning out more prose before that list becomes unmanageable and I become overwhelmed.

As a way of celebrating two months of being a proud papa to a bouncing baby blog (actually its in respect of the American military and Armed Forces Day, the two month thing just happened to coincide), I’m offering my short story collection Fright Night for free today. Don’t worry if you miss it today though, it’ll be free all of next weekend as well. You’ll need a kindle or kindle app to read it, but that shouldn’t be a problem for smart folks like you. If you do pick it up, consider adding a review on Amazon. Good or bad doesn’t matter to me, as long as it’s honest. I like to know where I need to improve. Notice I said where, not if. I know my writing isn’t perfect, but I can’t improve if nobody tells me what’s wrong with it.

Anyway, have a good day, everyone. Thanks again for making the past two months memorable.

Happy 2 months! (it can’t be an anniversary since its not been a year, but it’s still quite awesome). It took me forever to branch out and meet more people. You’ve done blogging well. Nice to know ya! 😀

i got me a copy. if i were to go back and look at the first two months of my blog, i’m sure i had zero followers and maybe ten hits total. in fact, i didn’t have my first follower until about a year ago, and that was after about four years of blogging. maybe even five years.
