Welcome, friends. This Friday brings us another drabble of the Friday Fictioneers variety, inspired by the following prompt from Madison Woods.
The only thing I could envision was the following conversation between these two moths.
Biding Time
“What are we doing here?”
“You already know the answer to that.”
“I don’t know how much more of this assignment I can take. Every day it’s the same. They go in and gorge themselves.”
“That’s a good thing.”
“I know, I know. They’ll get fat and lazy.”
“And what happens then?”
“We make our move to the top of the food chain.”
“Exactly.”
“Wait, doesn’t that sign say they serve healthy food now?”
“That doesn’t make it true, dimwit. Humans are easily persuaded. Soon enough, we will feast on the overweight imbeciles. Our time is very near, my friend!”

If you enjoyed that dialogue exchange, have a glimpse at two others I wrote. It was just too fun with these guys to stop at one. Click the link to proceed -> More Fun with Moths

I was thinking of a conversation between Pinky and the Brain. “What are we going to do tonight, Brain?” “The same thing we do every night. Take over the world!” Cracked me up. Nice job.

I love Pinky and the Brain!
May 25th, 2012 at 4:27 PM
I second that, Pinky and the Brain are awesome! Narf!

If there is such a thing as Thirding the notion… That’d be me.
May 24th, 2012 at 11:00 PM
Carnivorous moths? Love it! 😉 Mine will post tomorrow (Friday).
May 25th, 2012 at 4:28 PM
Not just carnivorous, carnivorous with a taste for human blood. These guys are just the tip of the iceberg. It’ll be an all out war on humans if they get their way.
May 25th, 2012 at 2:00 AM
Ha! This is what I keep saying! Will we not see til it’s to late! Lol!
Sorry I am writing a homeless conspiracy theorist in my book I got carried away. This is good! Here’s mine http://createrealitylivelife.wordpress.com/2012/05/25/friday-flash-fiction-not-moving-on/
May 25th, 2012 at 4:29 PM
Nobody ever listens to the conspiracy nuts. Who would believe someone talking about moths plotting to take over the world? We should start taking those guys more seriously
May 25th, 2012 at 2:27 AM
giggles hehehe…this is great! here’s mine: http://writersclubkl.wordpress.com/2012/05/25/friday-fictioneer-moth-tidings/

Glad you liked it!

There is a school of thought that says when we all die in an apocalypse, that only things left alive will be the cockroaches and insects ….. which means your story could well come true … LOL I enjoyed it 🙂
Here’s mine too: http://womanontheedgeofreality.com/2012/05/25/fairys-through-the-window/
May 25th, 2012 at 4:30 PM
I believe it. I may even go so far as to say the cockroaches/insects will purposely cause the apocalypse in order to exterminate the human race, but that’s just me.
May 25th, 2012 at 8:11 AM
Sinister. This was excellent, those fuzzy flutters conspiring to conquer the world.

Isn’t that the way it always goes? It’s always the ones you’d least expect. Stinkin’ moths!
May 25th, 2012 at 8:38 AM
I was easily persuaded that this scenario could one day come true. A lovely and imaginative take on the prompt. And we’ll likely never know whether it’s true or not.
Aloha,
doug
May 25th, 2012 at 4:32 PM
I’d rather it not be true, but I’m a human so I’ve no say in the affairs of the moth kingdom.
May 25th, 2012 at 9:17 AM
Hahhaha, Moths conspiring to take over. Great.
May 25th, 2012 at 5:33 PM
In the survival of the fittest, I’m pretty sure we’re on a downhill slope with out McDonalds (among others) addiction. The moths may just end up winning the war against humanity.
May 25th, 2012 at 11:57 AM
A fine and imaginative take on the prompt. I’m over here: http://readinpleasure.wordpress.com/2012/05/25/fridayfictioneers-preying-mantis/

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

Excellent use of dialog to carry the narrative. It seems we were thinking along similar lines, even if mine isn’t quite as direct (http://scottcheck.blogspot.com/2012/05/font-face-font-family-cambria-p.html) …
May 25th, 2012 at 5:36 PM
It’s not often I do a story that is all dialog, but it just seemed appropriate this week. Thanks for reading.
May 25th, 2012 at 1:11 PM
You were on a roll today! Loved the dialogue.
May 25th, 2012 at 5:37 PM
Thanks! I just couldn’t stop myself today. I’ve grown to really enjoy the banter between Jimmy and Carl. I may have to put them in a longer story. It would have to be a comedy though as they don’t seem too much the horror type of characters to me.
May 25th, 2012 at 1:25 PM
hahaha! Good one.
Moths planning to take over the world.

Let’s just pray it never happens! Only time will tell if they ever actually do make their move against us.
May 25th, 2012 at 2:40 PM
Bwahahahaha! Great tale, Adam. Loved the plotting.

Best line ever: Humans are easily persuaded…Fact! Love the story, it is a little light for you but theres potential here. I love it. Here is my share: http://remakingme-atiyatownes.blogspot.com/2012/05/friday-flash-fiction-best-hubby-ever.html
I think if I wrote this well enough you’d hate my female character.
May 25th, 2012 at 5:40 PM
Yea,h I was feeling more in the mood for comedy over horror today, so that’s the direction I tried to go with all three of today’s stories.
May 25th, 2012 at 11:09 PM
An extended caption, or what the insects are saying behind our backs. Loved it.
May 26th, 2012 at 7:48 AM
There seems to be a rumor this week that moths are conspiring to dominate the world. Could it be fact-based? This did remind me of a Twilight Zone where aliens plotted to take over by letting the humans destroy themselves. Kind of chilling.
I went for happy this week. http://www.rochelle-wisoff.blogspot.com/2012/05/rendezvous.html
May 26th, 2012 at 12:46 PM
Great minds think alike. Either that or we’re all sharing a massive case of delusional thoughts. Personally, I blame the government.
May 26th, 2012 at 8:25 AM
Nice horrific touch. I guess, even if they’re the cloth-eating type of moths, more plus-size pants and shirts = win.
For some reason, my moths have long, spiky fangs: http://stonesoupnovelist.com/2012/05/24/a-scene-from-the-novel-the-alchemists-tower/
May 26th, 2012 at 12:47 PM
Long, spiky fangs… I like it!
May 26th, 2012 at 5:20 PM
Moths with lofty goals. Haha. That was cute, Adam. If I get through the list I’ll go read your others too.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:00 PM
Lofty goals are the only goals worth having!
May 27th, 2012 at 4:26 AM
I love the conscience of one moth – he just can’t stand seeing us make the moth takeover so easy. He might end up helping the human resistance one day…

I have a feeling if he helps the humans he’ll be squashed like a bug, quite literally.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:42 AM
I loved it! Made me giggle….maybe man-eating moths are what we need. Very well done! http://theforgottenwife.com/2012/05/25/friday-fictioneers-52512/

I agree, a moth uprising may be exactly what this planet needs. Whether it will cleanse the planet or bring the human race together as one I’m not sure, but I imagine either way would be better than where we are now.
