Warning: this post may offend you, or it may not. Either way, I’m saying what needs to be said.
With all the talk of gay marriage and the controversy over Chik Fil A’s anti gay-marriage stance, I have written the following open letter.
To everyone who does not support gay marriage,
You are part of what is wrong with this world. You want your kids to grow up in a world that is fair and just but you spread your message of hate by standing against the love of two people. Make all the excuses you want, but what you are doing is nothing short of spreading hate. Call it whatever you want to make yourself feel better, but you’re making other people out to be beneath you. You are turning them into second class citizens because they have a different lifestyle than you. You are taking away their rights because they are different than you. That is hate, plain and simple.
I don’t care how you live your life and as long as I’m straight you don’t care how I live mine. How exactly is that a fair and just world, you hypocrite? Don’t you even dare try to bring religion into this and say that marriage is a union between a man and a woman according to the bible. I don’t give a shit what your bible says, if it even says that at all. We have something in this country called freedom of religion. We also have something called separation of church and state. Those two things combined make your argument a mute point. You have no right to look down on another because of their religion or your religious views. Period. If you do, you aren’t a very good Christian, or Buddhist, or Atheist, or Muslim, or whatever religion you are.
Why don’t we just say what the real issue here is? Be honest now. You think a man kissing/making love to another man or a woman kissing/making love to another woman is gross. Can we grow up and get over it? We aren’t a bunch of six year olds on a playground. If it grosses you out, don’t think about it. You probably do things that I think are gross, bite your nails or smoke for example, but you don’t see me stripping away your rights do you?
Let me ask you something. If I were to tell you that you couldn’t get married because you’re white or black or purple or green, what would you think of me? If I were to tell you that you couldn’t get married because you own a dishwasher, what would you think of me? If I were to tell you that you couldn’t get married because you have a child older than six, what would you think of me? You would think I was crazy and tell me to shove it where the sun doesn’t shine. Now go take a nice, long look in the mirror and ask yourself how two people who love each other getting married is possibly going to ruin your life? You wouldn’t want me telling you how to live your life. What makes you think it’s okay to tell a gay person how to live theirs?
Regards,
A straight man who supports love, regardless of gender.

I was not brought into this world with JUDGE written across my forehead therefore it is not my place to say what is right or wrong with gays or gay marriages. I believe if that is your way of life that’s ok with me it doesn’t change you as a person. If you want to marry go for it, adopt children go for it.Just love and don’t judge those that don’t believe in your way of live.

Thanks, but I think Michael is right. The people who this is directed toward won’t read it.
You always seem to end up in my spam comments for some reason. Not sure why.

I’m with you but the people who need to read this never will, or if they do, will simply slough it off because of your comments about the bible.

You are probably correct, but I needed to get it off my chest anyway.
