Thanks to Rochelle for hosting and the minions for reading.
Henrik stared out the tiny window of his mountaintop home, the view nothing short of breathtaking.
The ground quaked and the coffee on the table tipped into his lap. His khakis eagerly drank the hot liquid. He squealed and sprang to his feet.
The ground stopped rumbling, but he couldn’t shake the feeling he was still moving. Coffee forgotten, he peered out the window again and saw a beautiful beach rapidly approaching. He braced for impact, but the small home slowed to a stop before plopping gently into the sand.
Above the house, an enormous hand retreated into the clouds.

Looks like someone thought he needed a change of scenery or wanted to move him off his mountain at least. At least he set him down gently. 🙂
January 8th, 2014 at 10:01 AM
Yeah, at least they didn’t send his down a flight of stairs in a lego car like I used to do with my legos.
January 8th, 2014 at 9:16 AM
That was interesting. It does look like it’s been plopped there in the picture doesn’t it?
January 8th, 2014 at 10:02 AM
It certainly does. Thanks for reading.
January 8th, 2014 at 9:34 AM
nice piece of fantasy. at least the giant hand put him in the Bahamas! 🙂 p.s i enjoyed reading both your stories
January 8th, 2014 at 11:01 AM
I used to be the god of Legoland and I can tell you without a doubt that the beach is the worst possible place he could have been placed. That sand is made of legos. Have you ever stepped on a lego? The pain is excrutiating.
P.S. Thanks again for taking the time to do that for me. I’m glad you enjoyed them.
January 8th, 2014 at 11:02 AM
At least he was put down gently. Of course, we used to put our toys down gently too, as we lined them up for battle and them lobbed marbles and all sorts of objects at them from catapults.
Speaking of Legos, are you planning on seeing the Lego movie? Because it looks awesome.
January 8th, 2014 at 11:18 AM
I agree. Odds are something is coming to destroy that house. Hopefully he gets out before that happens.
I also agree that the Lego movie looks awesome. Not sure if I’ll be seeing it though. I don’t get to the movies very much.
January 8th, 2014 at 4:06 PM
Best of luck to that little Lego man.
I’ll probably end up either taking my little brother or my boyfriend to see it – haha. If not, I can wait til it comes out on DVD.
January 8th, 2014 at 11:35 AM
The only way to travel I feel. Nice take on the prompt.
January 8th, 2014 at 12:49 PM
As long as I don’t have a hot beverage beside me, I’d travel this way any day.
January 8th, 2014 at 12:30 PM
Oh,yeah! I enjoyed that immensely. We love Legos and Duplos and used them with the girls often. We kept them even when we moved. 🙂

I still have all my Legos from when I was little. When my daughter gets old enough for the smaller pieces they’ll become hers. For now she has a couple sets of the bigger blocks, and of course they are all different brands so none of them will work with any of the others… so annoying!
January 8th, 2014 at 12:37 PM
Excellently done.
January 8th, 2014 at 12:52 PM
Thank you.
January 8th, 2014 at 3:24 PM
I hope he enjoys the beach as much as the mountaintop!
January 8th, 2014 at 8:36 PM
If I know anything about how boys play with Legos, and I do. There’s a good deal of destruction and mayhem around the corner.
January 8th, 2014 at 3:40 PM
What a lovely take on this prompt, Adam. I can see this becoming a full-fledged story — or even a book. All kinds of possibilities.
January 8th, 2014 at 8:37 PM
It would make for an interesting story I think. Perhaps I’ll add it to my list of possible future projects.
January 8th, 2014 at 3:56 PM
loved it! And regarding a beach of legos: Walking over a bed of legos is a harder dare than walking over ashes .-)
liebe Grüße Carmen
January 8th, 2014 at 8:38 PM
I’d choose the ashes every time. Actually, that’s something I’ve always wanted to try, the ashes not the legos. 🙂
January 8th, 2014 at 4:13 PM
What a great way to move house, providing you drink your coffee first.
January 8th, 2014 at 8:40 PM
And provided you “know a guy” capable of picking your house up and moving it.
January 9th, 2014 at 3:54 AM
Haha! That too.
January 8th, 2014 at 5:37 PM
wonderful – especially for the mother and grandmother of a family of Lego freaks!
January 8th, 2014 at 8:41 PM
I used to spend hours on end building with my Legos… good times. Thanks for stopping by and reading my tale.
January 8th, 2014 at 6:59 PM
Haha! This reminds me of that Micky Mouse Cartoon called Mickey’s Trailer. 😀
January 8th, 2014 at 9:07 PM
Wish they still made good cartoons. Most of what they shove down kids’ throats now is garbage.
January 9th, 2014 at 12:16 PM
Oh boy I couldn’t agree more. The only good thing is that most of the old ones are one YouTube now. I just got my 4-year-old grandson started on Baby Huey.
January 8th, 2014 at 7:08 PM
Sounds like the God of Legoland didn’t feel like rebuilding. He must have something permanent in mind for the former mountaineer and his chalet.
January 8th, 2014 at 8:52 PM
Why rebuild when you can reuse? Chances are it’s about to be under siege and get destroyed as soon as the new setup is finished.
January 8th, 2014 at 9:29 PM
Now I am thinking about Lego land….
January 8th, 2014 at 9:36 PM
Never a bad time to think about Legoland 🙂
January 9th, 2014 at 1:52 AM
Great story!
I think we may all be God’s soft little legos. Somewhat prone to breakage, though. We often fall down or fall apart 😉
January 9th, 2014 at 9:11 AM
We certainly are prone to breakage. Maybe there is a manufacturer’s defect and they’ll be issuing a recall.
January 9th, 2014 at 4:40 AM
Dear Adam,
That’s what I get for waiting until the second morning to comment. All the good ones have been taken.
Your story did put me in mind of a particular Twilight Zone episode where a couple is stranded in an idyllic small town. There are no other people but them. Turns out they’ve been transported to another planet where the people are huge and they’ve become figures in a child’s toy town.
Clever story. I think you’re onto something. As for stepping on a Lego. My feet scream at the memories (plural). I have three sons. 😉
Shalom,
Rochelle
January 9th, 2014 at 9:13 AM
I feel that way about a lot of the stories I read. I go through the comments and I can’t help but think “what can i say about this that hasn’t already been said?”
Also, I haven’t seen that Twilight Zone episode, but it sounds pretty similar to what’s going on here.
January 9th, 2014 at 8:49 AM
I love the idea of this one – fantastic. Only a tiny comment about the phrase ‘shake the feeling’ – is shake the appropriate word to apply to how he’s feeling, when you’ve been writing about the earth moving?
January 9th, 2014 at 9:09 AM
Actually, that’s precisely why I chose that phrase, but I do see your point.
January 9th, 2014 at 9:46 AM
You know if you consider the view from the characters of Lego land I will bet this experience plays out all the time. A nice imagination Adam.
January 10th, 2014 at 12:39 PM
You’re right. This is probably common place for them and they don’t give it a second thought.
January 9th, 2014 at 12:32 PM
Hi Adam,
Very creative tale. What with global warming, earthquakes and volcanoes, who knows? Oceanfront property in Oklahoma? Ron
January 10th, 2014 at 12:41 PM
Is “global warming, earthquakes, and volcanoes, who knows” said in the same tone as “lions and tigers and bears, oh my”? If it isn’t, it probably should be.
January 10th, 2014 at 1:04 AM
Fun story. Can’t go wrong with Legos!
January 10th, 2014 at 12:42 PM
You certainly can’t. Legos are the sliced bread of the toy world.
January 10th, 2014 at 10:22 PM
Ha! Caught me off-guard with that final line. When I sent this photo in, I envisioned fantasy and magic. You have done it justice, Adam. Nice job!
January 12th, 2014 at 2:42 PM
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it. It was a wonderful photo to pull inspiration from.
January 12th, 2014 at 4:26 PM
Thanks. When I took the shot, I certainly never imagined all of these great stories! Love FF!
January 10th, 2014 at 11:36 PM
Great! Enjoyed it and love the giant hand going back into the clouds. You are a great writer – thanks! Nan
January 12th, 2014 at 2:43 PM
Thanks for the wonderful comment. Much appreciated.
January 11th, 2014 at 1:16 AM
Don’t blame me, it wasn’t my hand! (My hand is otherwise engaged) I think we might all enjoy a visit to Legoland on a quieter day ….
January 12th, 2014 at 2:43 PM
I’m not even going to ask what your hand was otherwise engaged with. Ignorance is bliss as they say.
January 11th, 2014 at 9:21 AM
Seems like he got from mountaintop view to beachfront.. Wonder what it did for property values.
January 12th, 2014 at 2:44 PM
I guess that would depend on which mountaintop and which beach. Personally I would prefer a mountaintop view.
January 11th, 2014 at 10:28 PM
Amen to that!
