Yes. You read that title right. I was up at 4:30 this morning, and I used that extra hour and a half to publish a book I’ve been working hard to finish. I apologize if that makes you feel a bit less productive. To be honest, I hadn’t planned on getting up any earlier than normal. I had planned on waiting until tonight to publish this bad boy, but I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep. Whether that was due to anticipation or my wife’s snoring I dare not hazard a guess. In lieu of sleep, I decided to be productive and push this project past the finish line.
And now, the great reveal… Say hello to my little friend:
100 stories.
100 words each.
Tiny snippets of terror for your consumption.
Take them in one at a time and savor the twisted flavor of death and destruction, or devour them all in one sitting–a nonstop feast of terrifying creatures and horrible happenings. The choice is yours, as will be the fear.
You may want to sleep with the light on.
Click here to buy the kindle edition!
About 30-35 of the stories have appeared on my blog. I lost count in the editing process where stories were removed and replaced with others. The rest of the stories are new. You’ve never seen them, but I’m certain you’ll love them. Well, I’m hoping you’ll love them anyway. If you don’t you should probably get your noggin examined as a precaution. It might be broken.
Now, be a good little minion and snag your copy today… or hold out for the print version. If all goes according to plan it should be available in a few days. Even better yet, be the first of your friends to procure both a digital AND a print edition!
A joking aside, I’d really appreciate if you guys and gals would spread the word about this newest collection of disturbing words from yours truly. Maybe throw a tweet my way (@AdamIckes–follow me while you’re at it), reblog this post, share a link on Facebook, like and share my Facebook page. Anything would be seriously appreciated, and I’d be happy to return the favor if and when you need it. Just say the word, for you are not only my minion, but I am yours as well. We’re all in this together.
Warm regards to the lot of you. Keep on writing, friends.

Oh yeah? You know what I did this morning at 4:30 A.M.? Dreamed I published a book! And dreamed it bombed. And dreamed your book was a best seller and you got all the women I was hoping to get and you were on all the talk shows and became a household name!
So take that, Mr. Big Shot!
March 4th, 2014 at 7:48 PM
I don’t think my wife will be happy that I’m getting all the women. I’ll be sure to send them your way, Perry. The best seller and household name though? Where do I sign up? haha
March 4th, 2014 at 6:33 PM
Both you and Perry were more productive than me today! Congrats on publishing your collection of stories, Adam!
March 4th, 2014 at 7:52 PM
I have a feeling that I’ll be a bit less productive for awhile now, but it feels good to see some tangible results after putting in so much effort.
March 4th, 2014 at 6:49 PM
Way to go Adam!! Love the cover and title. It’s done really well. Mazel!!
March 4th, 2014 at 7:53 PM
Thanks, Dawn. It tok a few aful ones to make it to that cover.
March 4th, 2014 at 11:16 PM
Did you design it? It’s great, especially for your genre. Great work!
March 5th, 2014 at 11:02 AM
I did design it. Some of the first attempts were horrendous. It usually takes at least four before I get anywhere near something presentable for any covers I work up. Then I look back at the first attempts like “what the hell was I thinking?” Then I delete them so there is no proof they ever existed.
March 5th, 2014 at 12:56 PM
Clearly, it works.
March 4th, 2014 at 8:00 PM
Why are pretending for Dawn you know what “mazel” means, Adam? You’re from Central Pa for crying out loud! Better leave the Yiddish to us ….
March 4th, 2014 at 8:16 PM
I’m not pretending I know. I’m just gleaning the meaning from context. Also, there’s always Google if i get too curious.

It looks like Perry took on the burden of the half-drunken rant, and I was the designated driver for our Mardis Gras celebration, so all I can offer is my sober congratulations. Except I will say that I was up until 2:00 this morning working on poetry for my book slated to come off the presses this coming summer. (You’re not such a hot shot after all, Mr, Ickes.)
JK, of course! I wish you the best of luck, and when my royalties start trickling in, your book will be at the top of my “to purchase” list.
Cheers!
MG

If the half drunken rant calls me a hot shot, I’m inclined to believe it. Mostly because I’m not above a little ego boosting even if it isn’t true. And you hit the nail on the head with the word “trickling” I’d prefer “flowing”, or maybe “flooding”, but the value seems stuck on “trickle.” Know any good plumbers who can fix that for me?
Keep me updated on your book. I’d love to check it out when it makes its debut.
March 5th, 2014 at 12:14 AM
The most I can do for you is reblog as I’m not on Facebook and don’t have a Kindle as yet. I’m also in India and don’t want to use an international card online because of all the fraud here. I’ll be happy to reblog for you.
March 5th, 2014 at 10:24 AM
No worries. You can get a sneak peak at the beginning on the Amazon page if you want you check some of it out. I think the preview has the first 10 or so stories in it.

Reblogged this on Musings on Life & Experience and commented:
To anyone who reads my blog I’m reblogging this for Adam Ickes since he’s just published his book. P.S. Joshi
March 5th, 2014 at 10:25 AM
I know I’ve said it before, but thanks again!
March 5th, 2014 at 2:49 AM
Nice one! Good luck with it, little flash fictions are idea when you’ve just got a few minutes to kill (by reading about your protagonists getting killed, presumably!).
March 5th, 2014 at 10:26 AM
You are presuming correctly. There is quite a bit of death in those pages. All of it strictly necessary of course.
March 5th, 2014 at 4:35 AM
Congrats and best of luck. I’m only at the second cup of coffee stage – productivity should kick in after half an hour or so but I now feel compelled to ignore the ironing pile and do some serious writing so thank you 🙂
March 5th, 2014 at 10:27 AM
Glad I could help motivate you. I’d be compelled to ignore the ironing pile regardless of whether or not I have other things to do. A quick run through the dryer is all the ironing I need, and even that is rare.

[…] hope you’ll all consider picking up a copy, or at least help me spread the word about it. Click here for more information (yesterday’s post). Click here to go directly to the Amazon […]

This is awesome! I’d feel more productive if I could make a dent in the mountain of work sitting on my desk at work instead of adding to it everyday. Good for business, bad for my stress level. Are these by chance stories from Friday Fictioneers?
Good luck!
March 5th, 2014 at 4:44 PM
About 30-35% are from FF. The rest are new.
March 5th, 2014 at 4:45 PM
That is awesome! I’ve been thinking about doing something similar. Just a little thought that’s been buzzing about in my brain – but you’ve beat me too it! Oh and I swear I’m going to have my reviews for Socks and Zombie Tree soon….
March 6th, 2014 at 3:14 PM
ooh, the print edition’s coming soon – sign me up for that – I’ll keep an eye out for updates
March 7th, 2014 at 7:17 AM
Print version went live last night. It’ll take 5-7 business days to be available on Amazon, but it’s available now at https://www.createspace.com/4700818
March 6th, 2014 at 4:59 PM
Congrats Adam…you’re living the dream!! 😉
March 7th, 2014 at 7:19 AM
If/when I can quit my day job, that’s when I’ll be living the dream, but this is certainly a step in the right direction. 🙂
March 7th, 2014 at 12:12 PM
Congratulations, Adam 🙂
March 10th, 2014 at 9:06 PM
Congratulations, Adam, and every success with it!
March 17th, 2014 at 2:44 PM
