The Color Red
Spilled blood flooded ravaged fields.
The Color Orange
Explosions rang out across the world.
The Color Yellow
Heavy clouds blot out the sun.
The Color Green
Nothing will ever grow here again.
The Color Blue
Earth was blue, now it’s gray.
The Color Purple
Bruised and indifferent, we still fight.

These six word stories were written for the Six on the Sixth prompt using the theme words rainbow and war. Insane might also apply. Each part is its own story, but combined they create a longer story. I do hope you’ll visit the prompt post and take part in the fun.

great take on war and rainbow! i was thinking civil war, but this seems more like global warfare…
May 6th, 2014 at 8:08 PM
You’re correct. My intention was a global end of days type of war with no coming back after the planet was destroyed beyond repair.

How desolate, which is no easy task with rainbow colors. Well done!

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

Adam, Very clever way to use the rainbow colors when describing a war. Let’s hope it never comes to that. Well done. 🙂

I hope it doesn’t come down to that, but it wouldn’t surprise me with the way people act.

Very cleverly written Adam. And i like the contrast of using something bright and happy like a rainbow to convey the darkness of war.
tough to choose a favourite but i would go with because the repeated sounds give it a poetic feel

Thanks.

Very powerful – the Earth appears destroyed but they’re fighting on anyway. I guess they don’t know what else to do. Good use of the colours.

Fighting even when there isn’t anything left worth fighting for. Thus is the human condition.
May 9th, 2014 at 7:35 PM
Really, clever! See, I would not have thought to do this at all. So, you don’t necessarily use the words, or need to use them all? Do I have that right? Great job on this.
May 9th, 2014 at 7:58 PM
You are 100% correct. There is no need to use the words. They’re just a guide to point you in the right direction (if you need help at all). From there you can take any path you choose. You really should give it a try.

I want to try, Adam. I will work on it. Thanks for the encouragement.

Ooh, war and rainbow – nice mix! I wouldn’t have thought to join them this way. “The Color Orange” was my favorite.

I think those “I never would have thought of that” thoughts on an almost daily basis. So many great ideas, so few of them mine! haha

I know what you mean!
