Six on the Sixth Prompt – August

6on6It’s that time of the month again! No not that time!

It’s time for some six word stories! Currently there isn’t a huge following, but hopefully as time passes more and more writers around the world will be contributing to this little exercise in creativity.

Speaking of creativity, I went ahead and created a logo for this little game we play. Extra points go to anyone who can positively identify the man on the top holding the gun. Extra points don’t mean much considering we don’t keep score, but it’s the thought that counts right?

This post will act as the prompt for tomorrow’s event. I say tomorrow because that’s when I’ll be posting my stories, but feel free to be flexible with the day on which you post yours. The linkup will be open all month.

The idea is to write anywhere from one to ten six word stories. I usually go with six of them, just to keep the six theme rolling.

To be clear, as the stories are so short, it is NOT MANDATORY that you use the prompt words. That being said, the following random words are this month’s prompts: (Be inspired by as many or as few as you see fit.)

Sink

Chair

Automobile

Anger

Duck

Black

The linkup is currently active and you are free to post your links to it at any time.

Storybook Corner Prompt – July

ogre-castle-words

Welcome to Storybook Corner, a monthly flash fiction prompt held on the 21st of each and every month. This post will give you this month’s prompt.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a story based on the prompt below.

The goal is to end up with a story with a beginning, middle, and end that falls anywhere between 300 and 500 words in length.

Make every word count, but don’t fret too much if you can’t hit the word count. Sometimes stories refuse to be constrained. Sometimes those are the only stories worth telling.

Try to read as many of the other stories as you can in the time you have available. We all work hard on our stories and like to share our work with as many readers as possible.

This month’s prompt will be the following image:

There used to be a building around this chimney, but it's long gone. The chimney is all that's left.

There used to be a building around this fireplace/chimney, but it’s long gone. This is all that’s left.

Happy writing, minions.

Storybook Corner Prompt – June

First off, allow me to apologize for being late with the prompt. I was heavy into a home renovation project that left me with little to no free time to sit in front of a computer for a couple weeks, then I left for a camping trip on Friday to a place with very limited (usually none) cell coverage so scheduling the post ahead of time just wasn’t an option. As I’m home now and the renovation is all but complete, without futher ado, I’ll get to the prompt…
