Happy Wednesday! Sorry for the late post. It’s been a little hectic today. Today’s quote comes from the King of Pop. I never said my quotes would all be about writing!
I sometimes forget that I should strive to better myself to make the world better for those around me. I’m sure we’re all guilty of needing to make a few changes. No one is perfect, after all. So start with the man (or woman) in the mirror. You can change the world, you’ve just got to start with yourself.

Very true though. It’s hard to help someone else when you’re hurting.

Even if you’re not hurting. Even changing little things can be helpful. For example, I know a lot of people who don’t use turn signals while driving. That pisses me off to no end when the person in front of me does that. Just a flick of their wrist could make the world just a little better.

I use my blog as a ranting space, mostly. I read blogs that are far more positive and hopeful and do wish that I could contribute to the general forward motion, but find more solace in self-depreciation. I agree with you though – change starts with a will to change and a will to be better.
I’ll try to remember it 🙂

Self-deprecation is a slippery slope in my opinion. Laughing at yourself and the mistakes you make is one thing. Putting yourself down does more harm than good, but that’s just my opinion and I make no claims of being an expert on the subject.

You do what with preteens? Rich! That’s awful!
Took me a minute to figure out what you were saying there. You jumbled it up real nice!

i write notes like that to other teachers. it annoys them. or sometimes i might write a simple note to another teacher, but i’ll write it with language mimicking the declaration of independence. some laugh and write back similarly. some want to push me down the stairs. oh well.
